Do you have a passion for writing? Are you interested in pursuing a career in public relations, communications, or copy-editing? Do you want to be a valuable, contributing member of a bright, passionate integrated marketing team? Do you believe that commerce can be a force for good?
The Company & the Role
World of Good is an innovative and nationally-recognized for-profit company in the fair trade gift & accessories space with more than 1,200 retail partners including Whole Foods, Borders, and Follet Bookstores. We are a rapidly growing, socially-conscious start-up based in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are looking for a bright, hard-working intern with excellent research and writing skills who can roll up their sleeves and join our marketing team to help with a long-term, substantive project this Fall, and support on a variety of others.
The Project(s)
The stories coming from the artisan groups that we support in Asia, Latin America, and Africa are core to our business and to our communications. While this project has already been launched, this Fall you will be able to pick up the material where it was left off. Your primary project will be an opportunity to conduct extensive primary and secondary research (both online and phone calls to various artisan and producer groups), and develop distinctive, colorful profiles for each of the artisan groups we support. At the end of the Fall, you will have a comprehensive portfolio of writing samples that will be featured on our website, the eBay fair trade marketplace, in our newsletters, on our in-store kiosks, and in our media outreach materials.
Other projects include support for trade show marketing efforts, coordination with national sales team, website content support, and PR support (media list development, reporter research, coverage tracking and reporting).
The Candidate (you!)
Our ideal candidate is an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, business, or international relations. You are a strong writer, a resourceful researcher, an effective verbal communicator, and have an understanding of basic word processing programs. You are also a team player with a good sense of humor and an ability to multi-task and be flexible in your assignments.
Qualified candidates should have:
Internships are unpaid, but can be completed for course credits at universities with eligible programs.
